Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 Synopsis
The third episode of the final season of Game of Thrones had fans on the edge of their seats. This episode was the longest in the series so far, clocking in at 82 minutes, and it did not disappoint.
The Battle of Winterfell Begins
The episode opens with the armies of the North preparing for the impending battle against the Night King and his army of the dead. The tension is high as everyone knows that this will be the fight for their survival.
The battle starts with the Dothraki charging headfirst into the army of the dead, only to be extinguished in a matter of seconds. The night is dark and full of terror, with only the flames from their swords lighting the way.
The Crypts Are Not Safe
The people hiding in the crypts of Winterfell thought they would be safe from the battle, but they were wrong. The Night King raises the dead Starks from their tombs, and chaos ensues. Tyrion and Sansa huddle together for safety but are forced to fight for their lives.
Arya Saves the Day
As the battle rages on, it seems as though all hope is lost. The Night King approaches Bran, who is being guarded by Theon, and it seems as though he will be able to kill Bran and end the war. But at the last moment, Arya comes out of nowhere and stabs the Night King with Valyrian steel, killing him and all of his army.
The Aftermath
With the immediate threat to their lives gone, the survivors of the battle begin to pick up the pieces. Many beloved characters did not make it out alive, including Jorah Mormont, Theon Greyjoy, and Lyanna Mormont. The episode ends with the survivors lighting funeral pyres for the dead.
Overall, this episode of Game of Thrones was a nail-biter from start to finish. Fans were thrilled with Arya's heroic moment and devastated by the loss of some of their favorite characters. It will be interesting to see how the remaining characters move forward in the final three episodes of the series.
